STATEMENT FROM JASON LINDSAY, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF PRIDE FUND TO END GUN VIOLENCE:
October 2, 2017 Another day, another deadly shooting in America. Our hearts go out to the people of Las Vegas, who are suffering today from an unimagined horror. Last night’s massacre is another reminder that no one is safe when access to guns is so easy. We’re heartbroken and horrified for those involved as well as the community as a whole.
While the investigation continues and details continue to emerge, we must face the reality that one more American town is just the latest in a growing list of cities ravaged by senseless gun violence. To Columbine, Charleston, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech and Orlando we can now add Las Vegas, which has become the deadliest shooting in American history.

Pride Fund executive director Jason Lindsay issued the following statement:
“The NRA’s endorsement of Gillespie, Adams, and Vogel for Virginia’s top elected offices makes it clear that the gun lobby has a profound interest in influencing politics to advance their dangerous agenda and increase their profits. It’s not a secret that more than 90% of Virginians support background checks for gun purchases. What is a secret is what did Ed Gillespie, Jill Vogel and John Adams promise gun rights extremists in exchange for their support in this year’s election? Washington, D.C. July 19. 2017 -- Pride Fund to End Gun Violence PAC – America’s only national LGBTQ political organization focused solely on gun violence prevention – announced today its endorsement of Justin Fairfax for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. Pride Fund endorsed Fairfax for his commitment to the LGBTQ community as well as smart, sensible gun reform.
“Justin Fairfax is the only candidate for Lieutenant Governor that will ensure both the safety and equality of all Virginians,” said Jason Lindsay, Executive Director of Pride Fund to End Gun Violence. “Justin has earned our endorsement because he supports universal background checks, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals.”
“I am humbled and honored to have earned the endorsement of the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence in our race for Lt. Governor of Virginia,” said Justin Fairfax. “The shooting at the Pulse night club was such a dark point in our history, and unfortunately, is an all too common occurrence in our communities. Incidents such as this show the devastation that irresponsible gun policies can cause. I am proud to stand with the Pride Fund as champions for LGBTQ safety and equality as we work towards sensible gun policy reforms in Virginia and across the country.”
“Justin’s opponent Jill Vogel has dedicated herself to lining the pockets of gun manufacturers through her support of the gun lobby,” added Lindsay. “She has an A+ rating from the NRA, and a perfect score from the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a group so radical that even the NRA tries to distance itself from them. This election, the choice couldn’t be more clear – Justin Fairfax is the Lieutenant Governor Virginians deserve – one who will stand up for all people of the Commonwealth no matter their race, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.”
Pride Fund has thoroughly reviewed the platform and records of this candidate to assess Justin Fairfax’s commitment to protecting the rights of the LGBTQ community and improving the safety of all Virginians. Justin Fairfax represents the kind of leader we need, who won’t prioritize the special interests of the gun lobby over the safety of the American people
