Video Highlights Congresswoman Comstock’s values - her devotion to the gun lobby over the safety of her constituents and choosing $137,000 in blood money NRA campaign cash over legislation to keep her district safe from gun violence.
September 24, 2018 -- Washington, DC -- Pride Fund to End Gun Violence PAC – America’s only LGBTQ organization solely focused on gun violence prevention – today announced the release of their most recent digital ad titled “Values,” which highlights how Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA-10) values and prioritizes blood money campaign cash from the NRA over the safety and lives of her constituents. The ad is the most provocative and brutally honest ad targeting Comstock this election cycle. Comstock is one of the top 10 recipients of NRA campaign donations, has an A+ rating from the NRA, and has repeatedly voted against sensible gun reform legislation, instead voting for dangerous legislation that is supported by the gun lobby. It is clear that what Comstock values most are her campaign checks from the NRA. The ad then pivots to gun reform champion, Democrat Jennifer Wexton and explains how she values public safety by supporting commonsense gun laws that will reduce gun violence and save lives.
Statement from Jason Lindsay, Founder & Executive Director, Pride Fund
“As Election Day rapidly approaches, voters must decide between a lawmaker who values the gun lobby’s money over human lives or a true leader who will take the necessary steps to make her district, her state and her country a safer place for everyone. This is a critical race in the fight for gun reform. Pride Fund to End Gun Violence has been on the ground and involved in the race for VA-10 for 16 months. We are determined to see a leader who will stand up to the gun lobby instead of bow down to it. Pride Fund is proud to release our ad, “Values” and encourage voters in the district to do their part and vote for Jennifer Wexton on Tuesday, November 6.”

The video is a poignant reminder that while parents fear their child’s school may become the next Sandy Hook, Parkland, or Santa Fe, members of Congress who have ties to the NRA place the wishes of the gun lobby over those of their constituents — and Congresswoman Comstock is no exception. With campaign funds from the NRA totaling $137,000 and her track record of voting against legislation that would prohibit suspected terrorists from purchasing guns 22 times, it is clear that she values campaign cash from the NRA more than the safety of her constituents. Her support for legislation that would allow potentially dangerous and untrained persons to carry concealed, loaded weapons in public, only reinforces her lack of concern for the lives and safety of those living in Virginia’s 10th district.
However, there is a silver lining: Democratic candidate Jennifer Wexton, who is challenging Congresswoman Comstock to represent Virginia’s 10th District, is a committed and proven leader currently serving as a State Senator. Wexton values the safety of her constituents and Americans everywhere from gun violence. In fact, she is committed to fighting for LGBTQ equality and sensible gun reform while protecting the rights of legal, responsible gun owners. In the State Senate, she has voted for bills that would establish universal background checks, ban bump stocks, mandate reporting of lost or stolen firearms, and keep firearms out of the hands of domestic abusers and convicted stalkers. She has also fought against legislation that would loosen restrictions on who can obtain concealed carry permits.
Video Script:
While our kids are on the playground, at risk of the next school shooting,
Barbara Comstock is busy cashing her campaign checks from the gun lobby.
Comstock’s misplaced values are a threat to the safety of all of us.
She values NRA blood money totaling $137,000 for her campaign
And her A+ rating from the NRA over the lives of her constituents.
In fact, she is one of the top 10 recipients of NRA money in Congress,
And in return she has voted in lock step with the gun lobby’s dangerous agenda.
Congresswoman Comstock voted 22 times to block legislation
That would prohibit suspected terrorists from purchasing guns.
Then last year, Comstock voted for legislation that would allow dangerous
And untrained people to carry loaded, hidden guns in public places.
Comstock is part of the problem with Washington.
Jennifer Wexton is the solution.
Wexton is a proven leader in the Virginia State Senate
Who cares about her constituents and their safety.
Wexton is a strong advocate for gun violence prevention
And has consistently fought for common sense legislation to keep our communities safe.
She engages with the community and cares more about the voice of the people
Than the blood money of the NRA.
Wexton has championed and voted for bills that would establish:
Universal background checks,
To close the gun show loophole,
And to ban bump-stocks.
She has also fought against legislation that would
Loosen restrictions on who can obtain concealed carry permits.
It’s time for Virginia’s 10th District to have a leader who cares about their safety.
On November 6th, vote Jennifer Wexton for Congress.
