LGBTQ PAC established after Pulse shooting makes key endorsement
August 10, 2018 -- Washington, DC — Pride Fund to End Gun Violence PAC – America’s only national LGBTQ political organization focused solely on gun violence prevention – announced today its endorsement of Christine Hallquist for Governor of Vermont. Pride Fund endorsed Hallquist based on her commitment to championing LGBTQ equality and her support of common sense gun safety reform.
“We support Christine Hallquist for Governor because she demonstrates the commitment to an ideal Vermont that paves the way for gun reform and LGBTQ equality” said Jason Lindsay, founder and Executive Director of Pride Fund. “Christine has the potential to become a breakthrough national symbol of LGBTQ equality, and exceptionalism and we are proud to stand with her in this election effort.”
Hallquist is a proven leader because she is an experienced CEO who brought the Vermont Electric Coop from being on the brink of bankruptcy to financial success. She is ready to put this experience to use as an elected official and bring about meaningful change in Vermont. Throughout her personal and professional life, Hallquist has faced adversity and has no issue standing up to the gun lobby. She is ready to break the mold and become America’s first LGBTQ governor.
Throughout her historic campaign, Hallquist has not asked Vermont to vote for her because she would make history, but because she is more than qualified to lead an administration to success as she has done in the past. A vote for Hallquist is a vote for a safer, more progressive Vermont.
"It is crucial that we continue to be serious in our commitment to common sense gun control and recognize that action on this issue is essential in the fight for LGBTQ safety and equality. I am so honored to have received the endorsement of the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, and recognizes me as someone who will be a champion on these issues," said Hallquist.
Hallquist has had an uphill battle throughout her life in order to freely express who she is. Just like in her own personal battles, Hallquist is ready to fight for the safety of Vermont’s families: “When I look at what Vermont has done for me, I can’t give up enough in response to Vermont; I feel such a debt of gratitude to this state that I want to do everything that I can to restore decency, and get us back on the path of being the little state that can show the rest of the country how well democracy can work." Hallquist is a proven leader who is passionate about improving the lives of Vermont’s residents. She is ready to break the mold of the average politician and become America’s first transgender governor.
