June 12, 2018 -- Orlando, FL -- State Representative Mike Miller, whose district includes the Pulse Nightclub, will hold a fundraiser for his Congressional campaign in Miami on the second anniversary of the Pulse massacre. Republican Mike Miller will seek Florida's 7th Congressional District, challenging Incumbent Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy who Pride Fund helped elect to Congress in 2016.
Pride Fund to End Gun Violence founder and executive director Jason Lindsay issued the following statement:
"Today, all of Orlando is focused on remembering the 49 lives lost two years ago in the Pulse massacre. The loss is real, and the pain still exists. Today should not be a day for politics, but for healing. It’s unfortunate that Rep. Mike Miller, who seeks to represent the district in Congress that includes Pulse, would choose not to honor the Pulse victims and survivors, but instead host a fundraiser out of town. At the exact time our entire community will be focused on the hope and promise in the lives that were lost, Mike Miller will be grabbing cash in Miami."
"Today is a solemn day, seen by all as one for reflection. Instead, Mike Miller will be partying in Miami. His priorities clearly are not the priorities of Orlando."
