Pride Fund Endorsed Candidate Karrie Delaney Defeats NRA-Backed, Anti-LGBTQ Republican Jim LeMunyon
Washington, D.C. November 7, 2017 -- Pride Fund to End Gun Violence – America’s only national LGBTQ political organization focused solely on gun violence prevention – is honored to celebrate Karrie Delaney’s victory over Jim LeMunyon in District 67 of the Virginia House of Delegates.
“It was obvious that Karrie Delaney was the correct choice this election for a safer Virginia. While Jim LeMunyon served in the Virginia House of Delegates, he voted time and time again for dangerous gun lobby bills that would endanger Virginia families and children,” said Jason Lindsay, Executive Director of Pride Fund. “Pride Fund is excited to stand with Karrie tonight. We look forward to working with Karrie in Richmond to make Virginia communities safer and more inclusive for everyone in the Commonwealth.”
“I am a strong advocate for equality and inclusion for all, no matter your race, gender, religion, or who you love. Virginia should be a welcoming state for all, because our diversity is our biggest strength. I am proud to have had the support of Pride Fund and applaud their mission of fighting for LGBT equality and safety for every American,” said Karrie Delaney.
We supported Karrie’s campaign in the following ways:
Hosted an in-person fundraising event in Washington D.C. to introduce her to out-of-state activists and donors.
Sent volunteers from Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland to do door-to-door canvassing to get out the vote.
Volunteers from around the country phone banked to get out the vote.
Made direct campaign contributions to support her campaign.
Using our robust social media and e-mail list, Pride Fund continually highlighted Karrie's race with original and earned media content.
Following the Pulse massacre and most recent mass shootings in Las Vegas and Texas, we are encouraged by Karrie’s commitment to commonsense gun reforms and to continuing the march toward equality for the LGBTQ community. Pride Fund looks forward to working with Karrie and her constituents as we reclaim our communities from the threat of gun violence.
