Pride Fund Endorsed Candidate Danica Roem Wins Election, Making History As The First Out Trans State Legislator Ever Elected

November 07, 2017 -- WASHINGTON, DC -- Pride Fund to End Gun Violence PAC – America’s only national LGBTQ organization solely focused on gun violence prevention – is extremely proud to congratulate its endorsed candidate, Danica Roem, on her incredible victory over Republican, NRA-endorsed incumbent Bob Marshall. Tonight, Danica made history as the first out transgender candidate for state legislature ever elected.

“Danica’s victory this evening is inspiring to the entire LGBTQ community and anyone who supports public safety,” said Jason Lindsay, Executive Director of Pride Fund to End Gun Violence. “We’re proud to have supported Danica’s campaign for the Virginia House of Delegates and send a strong message to the White House and Republican elected-officials across the country that bigotry will not be tolerated.”

Pride Fund volunteers from all over the country made phone calls to voters throughout the election season to discuss our endorsed candidates and help get out the vote.
Volunteers from Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland did door to door canvassing in House District 13.

Following the Pulse massacre and most recent mass shootings in Las Vegas and Texas, we are encouraged by Roem’s commitment to commonsense gun reforms and to continuing the march towards equality for the LGBTQ community.
